The weather in Podunk has been absolutely beautiful the last couple of days. Sunny and 70 is perfect for opening the windows and doing a little spring cleaning. And that's exactly what I did for a couple of days. Then I was ready to get back in the Studio and play with some fun spring projects.

But let's be honest, this quilt shouldn't even be in the rotation. Remember me setting ...
read moreHi Friends! Yesterday while using my sewing machine to fill the bobbins for my quilter, I realized I had not shared the progress of my Old Town Mystery quilt blocks.
It's been a couple of weeks since the reveal of the Old Town Mystery by Bonnie Hunter. All of my clues for this quilt have been ready and waiting patiently for me to pay them a little attention. I'm loving this quilt block design and my color combination.
There's a big winter storm headed our way later today. Up to 10 inches of the beautiful snowman making snow! I can hardly wait to bundle up, go outside and play in the snow. While I wait, there's plenty to keep me busy inside. Today I'll finish up the sashing units for the Old Town Quilt Mystery by Bonnie Hunter. If you too are making this quilt, you're probably wondering about my sashing units. Well, I altered the pattern a bit to suit my style by adding the blue corner triangles.
What a great way to end the year and ring in the new! Early Tuesday morning while still in my jammies and drinking coffee, Bonnie surprised us with Part 8 of the Old Town Mystery Quilt. Woohoo! I made Mr. Podunk's breakfast. Then did some chores and by noonish I was still in my jammies and cutting the fabrics for part 8.
Hi Friends! I did it. I finished these itty-bitty units! Let me tell you, they gave me trouble right from the start. If it could go wrong, it did. Miscuts, miscounting, wrong seam allowance and pressing in the wrong direction. But I kept my cool, worked through the many issues and here we are with a pretty stack of what looks to be perfect units ready for the next clue in this mystery quilt.
Hello Quilty Friends! This week's Old Town Mystery clue is teeny tiny little flying geese blocks. Aren't they adorable?
With the flying geese block being so small, I thought for sure I would be able to use the aqua scraps produced in clue 5 to make this week's clue. Nope! They were a smidgen too small.
Hello Quilty Friends! Bonnie hit us with an extra clue this week. The clue was sets of matching half square triangles (HST's). After completing the HST's on Christmas morning, it was time to have a little fun and stage all the clues in my Christmas train.
Hey Quilty Friends! Old Town Part 5 was a breeze compared to some of the previous clues. I finished these much faster than I thought. But in my excitement, I forgot one of Bonnies rules, no pictures on our cutting mats. So, once again I blurred out the cutting mat lines in some of the pictures.
Hello Quilting Friends! Come on in and join me in a little celebratory finishing dance! Had it not been for all your well wishes and prayers for speedy wrist healing, I don't think I would have been able to accomplish these half square triangles this week. It means the world to me to have such a great community, thank you!
Hi Quilty Friends! Today's quilting update is small, but there's still progress. The fabric for part four of the Old Town Mystery quilt is finally ready for cutting. My scrap bins lacked pieces large enough for the necessary matching sets, so I resorted to cutting some strips from my yardage stash. Naturally, most of these strips came from my cherished Lakehouse Drygoods collection, which always sets my heart aflutter.
Hello Quilty Friends! Having a sprained wrist made piecing this small batch of quarter square triangles a bit of a challenge. It took about 8 hours of sewing for a bit and resting for a longer bit.
Well, isn't this pretty? PURPLE! Y'all know how much I dislike purple...HAHA! I definitely don't look good in purple.
Hey Quilty Friends! This past weekend every spare minute was spent working on the second clue of the Quiltville Mystery quilt called Old Town.
Hello Scrap Happy Quilters! I did it! The first clue of the Old Town Quiltville Mystery is finished.
I started cutting fabrics late afternoon on Monday using Bonnie's ruler that I bought a couple of weeks ago. One set of test blocks shown below. Normally when making flying geese I use the four at a time method which requires larger pieces of fabric. Using this ruler and sewing small pieces reminded me of my earlier years in quilting before discovering the rotary cutter, acrylic templates, rulers and quick piecing techniques. One of these days I'll time Bonnie's ...
